PPAF Delegation and AJK Officials Unite for Sustainable Development Initiatives

PPAF Briefs AJK Authorities on Poverty Alleviation Program and Climate Action Plans

In a significant move towards fostering sustainable development, a delegation from the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), led by Mr. Hamid Afridi, Specialist in Green Growth and Climate Change, engaged in fruitful discussions with key officials in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The delegation met with Mr. Dawood Khan Bareach, Chief Secretary AJK, and Mr. Ansar, Secretary Environment and Forests AJK, at Muzzaffarabad. The primary agenda of the meeting was to explore collaboration and establish partnerships aimed at addressing pressing issues related to sustainable development in the region.

A wide range of proposals was tabled during the discussions, covering crucial areas such as climate change, zero carbon emissions, disaster management, community resilience building, renewable energy, and community-led development. The delegation emphasized the importance of local economic development as a pivotal aspect of their initiatives.

A consensus was reached during the meeting to work in a more coordinated manner to confront the challenges faced by the state. Both parties expressed their commitment to leveraging each other’s strengths to facilitate poverty alleviation and foster socioeconomic development for the prosperity of the people.

Continuing their efforts, the PPAF delegation, led by Mr. Hamid Afridi, also held discussions with Mr. Khalid Mahmood Mirza, Additional Chief Secretary a.i./Secretary, P&DD AJK. The meeting included all Chiefs of Sections, providing a comprehensive briefing on the PPAF poverty graduation program.

The focus of this session was to seek mutual collaboration and partnerships in addressing climate change challenges and promoting sustainable development in the AJK region. Plans for the future were deliberated upon, underscoring the shared commitment towards fostering a resilient and prosperous community.
